Paramount+ has released a new deleted scene from the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Shared exclusively by IGN, the new Strange New Worlds deleted scene comes from Season 2, Episode 5, “Charades.” In the episode, an alien entity removes Spock‘s (Ethan Peck) Vulcan DNA, leaving the beloved science officer fully human for a time. In the deleted scene, Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) introduces the human Spock to chewing gum. Spock quickly makes the mistake of mixing his gum with other food items.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is returning for Season 3

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ in May 2022. It returned for a second season this past June. The show serves as both a spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery and a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, taking place during Christopher Pike’s (Anson Mount) time as captain of the USS Enterprise.

Strange New Worlds Season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, with Captain Pike facing an impossible choice amid the Enterprise’s seemingly hopeless battle against the vicious Gorn. Season 3 was supposed to begin production earlier this year. However, shooting was delayed due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strikes. Production on Season 3 is now expected to last from December 2023 to July 2024. Like Seasons 1 and 2, Strange New Worlds Season 3 will run for 10 episodes.

In the meantime, the Star Trek prequel series continues to rack up accolades. Per Deadline, Strange New Worlds has just been nominated for Best Drama Series at the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. Additionally, Celia Rose Gooding has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Nyota Uhura.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Paramount+. Season 3 does not have a premiere date.
