Ella Purnell Joins the Cast of Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV Series

The upcoming Fallout series on Amazon Prime has cast a new lead character. According to Deadline, Ella Purnell has booked a starring role in the highly-anticipated video game adaptation.

Details are still under wraps, but it sounds like Purnell is playing a character named Jean, a “young woman with a can-do attitude,” which should come in handy as she navigates the show’s post-apocalyptic landscape. However, she also “may be hiding a dangerous secret” about herself.

Purnell most recently appeared as a series regular on Showtime’s Yellowjackets and she also played a major role in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. Purnell has also lent her talents to Netflix’s Arcane animated series and Paramount+’s Star Trek: Prodigy as the voice of Jinx and Gwyn, respectively. Some of her other credits include Churchill, Maleficent, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Last month, Walton Goggins reportedly joined Fallout’s cast as a Ghoul, a human suffering from prolonged radiation exposure. The series is one of several video game adaptations that Amazon is currently developing. Live-action series based on Mass Effect and God of War are also in the works.

Amazon has been trying to get a Fallout series off the ground since 2020. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (the co-creators of HBO’s Westworld) are executive producing the adaptation through their Kilter Films banner alongside Athena Wickham. Additionally, Nolan will direct the series’ first episode. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are co-showrunning the project with an eye to start filming sometime this year.
