During the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Don Cheadle briefly made his return as Jim Rhodes/War Machine. And while Cheadle is slated to headline Armor Wars as well, he will be back sooner than expected. Via The Playlist, Samuel L. Jackson appeared on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast and confirmed that Cheadle will return in Marvel’s Secret Invasion series.
Jackson made the revelation while talking up a few of his other Secret Invasion co-stars, Emilia Clarke and Ben Mendelsohn.
“Emilia’s amazing… Ben Mendelsohn, he’s awesome. Don, Don Cheadle,” said Jackson. “I got Don, that’s my golf buddy. I didn’t realize it, but until we did this thing, I was like, ‘We’ve never worked together.’ We just kinda know each other, hang out and laugh… but we’d never worked together and we finally [got to work together].”
Cheadle and Jackson were both in Iron Man 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. However, they didn’t share any significant screen time in those films.

Additionally, Jackson spoke about his reaction to appearing opposite Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman, who has an undisclosed role in Secret Invasion.
“When I walked in the room and Olivia Colman was standing there, I was just like, ‘Ahhhh! We just started laughing, and when we started to work, it was so glorious and such a ball,” recalled Jackson. “Not this, serious, crazy deepness, you know? We were just kind of having a good time. She is so amazing and so effective in a scene.”
“It’s those moments that, when you’re in the middle of doing it and you feel it and you watch it happen, that when they finally say ‘cut,’ you look at the other person and go, ‘Oh my god, that was amazing.’ She was great,” added Jackson.
Secret Invasion is still filming. Disney+ hasn’t set a premiere date yet.
