Disney+’s Ironheart Series Casts Anthony Ramos in a Mystery Role

After sharing the screen with Hasbro’s robots in disguise, Anthony Ramos is heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Deadline, the actor and singer has booked a “key role” in the upcoming Ironheart series on Disney+.

Not surprisingly, the identity of Ramos’ character is still a tightly-guarded secret. But don’t expect Ironheart to be his only appearance in the MCU. Deadline’s sources liken his role to that of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, who made his debut in Loki’s first season finale and will have a much bigger presence starting with next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Apparently, Ramos will play a similarly important role in future Marvel projects as well.

Ramos recently landed a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in In the Heights and he previously scored an Emmy nod for his dual roles in 2020’s Hamilton concert film. He also had a recurring role in HBO’s 2021 revival of In Treatment. Last fall, Ramos wrapped production on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which hits theaters in June 2023.

Dominique Thorne was announced as the star of Ironheart during Disney’s Investor Day presentation at the end of 2020. She will star in the series as Riri Williams, a teenage science prodigy who models her own flying armored suit after Tony Stark’s design. Chinaka Hodge came aboard as the show’s head writer last year. But before the series gets underway, Thorne will make her first appearance as Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which arrives on November 11.

Disney+ hasn’t announced a premiere date for Ironheart.
