Star Wars: Andor Has Wrapped Filming on its First Season
Next year, Lucasfilm’s most ambitious Star Wars live-action series to date will hit Disney+. The Rogue One prequel, Star Wars: Andor, is the first live-action show to have a 12-episode first season. And possibly more seasons down the line. Diego Luna is reprising his role as Cassian Andor, the doomed operative of the Rebellion. And while Luna can’t share too many details about the show, he did confirm that the first season has wrapped production.
“To be honest, it’s been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances,” said Luna via Deadline. “I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn’t be more proud of and admire more. It’s a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We’re done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it.”
In addition to Luna, Forest Whitaker and Genevieve O’Reilly will also reprise their respective roles as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma. There may also be other returning characters we haven’t learned about yet.
“You’ll definitely see familiar faces,” added Luna. “I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen [Rogue One] already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.”
Additionally, Luna said “what I can tell you is that the experience was literally a transformation for me. It’s something that I really wanted to do and that I thought I was not going to be able to do. I’m more than happy.”
If we had to guess what Luna is talking about, we’re going to go with his desire to “touch” Jabba the Hutt. He’s brought it up a few times.
Star Wars: Andor will hit Disney+ in 2022.
