Jimmi Simpson and John Noble Join the Star Trek: Prodigy Voice Cast

Star Trek: Prodigy has just added two big genre stars to the cast of its first season. According to Deadline, Jimmi Simpson and John Noble have booked voice roles on the new animated series.

Noble is providing the voice of a being known only as The Diviner. Described as a “ruthless tyrant,” The Diviner controls the asteroid world of Tars Lamora and exploits its people. His daughter is Gwyn, one of Prodigy’s central characters. As his own body starts to fail him, The Diviner grooms his daughter to carry on his work when she’s ready. But when Gwyn commandeers an abandoned starship with other Tars Lamora outcasts, he will stop at nothing to find them.

Meanwhile, Simpson is playing Drednok, The Diviner’s “deadly robotic enforcer” who possesses a “menacing” spider-like appearance. Drednok aids his master in his hunt for Gwyn’s ship, making it his mission to bring her home by any means necessary.

Prodigy is set to be the first Star Trek series to feature a main cast made up entirely of alien characters. Onboard their ship, the USS Protostar, the teen heroes will also encounter a familiar face: Kathryn Janeway, who appears as a hologram. Kate Mulgrew is reprising her Star Trek: Voyager role as the famed Starfleet captain.

Paramount+ hasn’t announced a release date for Star Trek: Prodigy. However, it’s expected to debut on the platform by the end of the year.
