Melissa Benoist Wraps Production on Supergirl’s Final Season

After six seasons and more than 100 episodes, the sun is about to set on Supergirl’s time in the Arrowverse. Over the past few weeks, several actors from the show have taken to social media to commemorate their final days on set. Now, it’s Melissa Benoist’s turn to say goodbye. In a new Instagram post, Kara Danvers herself marked Supergirl’s last day of filming with a heartfelt message to the cast and crew as well as the viewers who tuned in every week.

With production on season 6 finally in the can, Benoist has shared a photo of herself standing alongside David Harewood (J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter) and Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers/Sentinel), all dressed in their superhero costumes. You can check out what she had to say below.

Although Supergirl initially debuted on CBS in 2015, the series eventually moved to The CW starting with season 2. Benoist’s character later became a major fixture in the network’s annual DC crossovers, including Invasion!, Elseworlds, and Crisis on Infinite Earths. All of these events memorably pit her opposite the likes of Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow and Grant Gustin’s The Flash.

The CW previously confirmed that Supergirl‘s sixth and final season will comprise 20 episodes. Only seven of those episodes have aired thus far, so the show’s ending is still a ways off. Regardless, the network has yet to announce a date for the series finale.

The next episode of Supergirl airs on Tuesday, August 24 on The CW.
