Disney+’s Ms. Marvel Series Has Wrapped Production
Ms. Marvel has wrapped production. Variety is reporting that Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ original series recently wrapped its shoot in Thailand after filming was completed in Georgia. The report also states that Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed episodes four and five in Thailand. While there are currently strict COVID restrictions in Thailand, Ms. Marvel received a waiver to remain in production. Variety notes that “workflow in Thailand was also divided into three separate bubbles so that if an infection was found in one bubble, the entire show would not have to shut down, and production could continue at the remaining two.”
Iman Vellani will star in the series as Kamala Khan, a teenager who idolizes superheroes. While it’s unclear if Ms. Marvel will retain the title character’s links to the Inhumans, she will will discover her body-morphing powers. Kamala will also adapt a heroic persona inspired by her idol, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.
Saagar Shaikh also stars in the series as Kamala’s brother, Amir Khan. Mohan Kapur and Zenobia Shroff will play Kamala and Amir’s parents, Yusuf and Muneeba Khan. Additionally, Matt Lintz has been cast as Bruno Carrelli, with Aramis Knight as Kareem/Red Dagger, Laurel Marsden as Zoe Zimmer, and Rish Shah as Kamran.
Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, Alyy Khan, and Alysia Reiner will also have roles in the series.
Bisha K. Ali is the showrunner for Ms. Marvel. As noted above, Obaid-Chinoy directed two episodes of the six episode season. The remaining episodes were helmed by Adil El Arbi, Billal Fallah, and Meera Menon.
Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney+ later this year. Vellani will also reprise her role as Ms. Marvel in The Marvels in 2022.
