Harley Quinn Showrunner Calls on HBO Max For a Season 3 Renewal

Even though Harley Quinn has been DC Universe’s most critically successful original program, the series’ producers have yet to get the go-ahead for season 3.  Following Jim Lee’s announcement that all DC Universe originals will eventually migrate to HBO Max, its fate is even less clear. However, showrunner Patrick Schumacker isn’t giving up hope. In fact, he recently appealed directly to HBO Max to bring viewers more R-rated, animated hijinks featuring the Maid of Mischief.

Yesterday, the HBO Max Twitter account posted a tweet asking users to recommend one of its original offerings to a friend. Schumacker then chimed in with his own response, and his answer shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. You can check out what he had to say below.

Schumacker later described his tweet as a “gentle nudge” to renew the show for a third season. So far, Harley Quinn has aired two seasons with only a six week break in between. The series wrapped up its second season in late June. In August, all 26 episodes were made available to HBO Max subscribers as well. Fans were hoping for a season 3 renewal to be announced at DC FanDome last month. But while Kaley Cuoco reprised her role as Harley for an animated segment, the show’s future was never addressed.

Earlier this year, Schumacker revealed that he’s already thinking about how a potential third season could get started. All that’s left is for HBO Max to sign off on the order.
