Director Teases the Beginning of Production on The Witcher Season 2

It seems that the production of The Witcher Season 2 has already begun. It took Stephen Surjik, who will direct a couple of episodes on the sophomore season of the show, to break the news. The director posted on Instagram to share the good news with the fans, confirming that Netflix has introduced some COVID-19 protocols for everyone’s safety on the set.

“It’s T minus 3 min to ignition and lift off for our second run at Witcher S2,” he wrote. “Everyone is being cautious but spirits are high. You’re looking out new covid communication system, reducing close contact among crew.”

Previously, Netflix announced that The Witcher Season 2 would officially resume production on August 17. It seems that there has been some slight change of plans, but fans will hardly complain if this also implies that the second season could arrive even earlier than expected. That may seem an overly optimistic assumption, but every cause for hope helps.

The returning cast for the new adventures of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia includes Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, as well as Freya Allan’s Ciri, and Joey Batey’s unpredictable Jaskier.

The Witcher Season 2 will be available on Netflix in 2021.
