Henry Cavill Confirms The Witcher Season 2 Production is Starting Soon

Although a new batch of episodes won’t hit until next year, The Witcher season 2 is about to start shooting. Henry Cavill, who portrays the powerful Geralt of Rivia, recently posted an update on Instagram. While Cavill said that he had fun on his vacation, it’s time to go “back to work.”

“Pre-production will be starting very shortly on (The) Witcher Season 2,” said Cavill. He also promised to post updates on his Instagram channel, including “thrilling and exciting” cardio videos. He also offered his thanks to fans who enjoyed the first season since its debut last month.

“I see you’ve all enjoyed Witcher Season 1, thank you very much for that. I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

Netflix ordered a second season for the series before its premiere. Following its debut, The Witcher became the biggest streaming series in the world, beating out Disney+’s hit show The Mandalorian. Of course, Disney+ has yet to launch in some countries, which may have helped The Witcher stay in front of The Mandalorian for now.

Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has promised that the second season will have a deeper dive into story.

“What’s great about season two, I can tell you, is that, in what we’ve written, the story becomes much more focused,”  said Hissrich. “There’s a stronger drive in the story, because all of the relationships that we’ve been setting up in season one, actually start to come into fruition in season two.”

The Witcher will premiere in 2021.
