Bill Skarsgård could be linked to a major villain role in Marvel’s upcoming Ghost Rider. A new casting rumor has connected the actor to one of the character’s supernatural enemies.
Scooper James Mack claimed on X (Twitter), “Bill Skarsgård is being considered to play Blackout in Ghost Rider.” The claim has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios, which has yet to reveal its plans for the villain.
Ghost Rider’s potential villains include Mephisto, Lilith & Blackout
Blackout is reportedly one of three villains being considered for the movie. Previously, the same James Mack report also named Mephisto and Lilith as possible antagonists. None of those characters has been confirmed by Marvel Studios.
The rumor comes after Marvel officially announced Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con. Ryan Gosling will play Johnny Blaze. Shawn Levy will be directing the MCU movie. Jonathan Tropper is writing the screenplay.
Blackout has a long history with Ghost Rider in Marvel Comics. The character is a demonic Lilin and has fought Ghost Rider several times. He has also worked for Deathwatch and is connected to Lilith, making him a natural fit for the supernatural side of the franchise.
Mephisto is another important figure in Ghost Rider’s comic history. Marvel’s official character page explains that Johnny Blaze made a deal with Mephisto before becoming Ghost Rider. Meanwhile, Lilith is a powerful demonic figure whose children include several supernatural villains.
For now, Skarsgård’s reported involvement should be treated as a rumor. Marvel has yet to announce whether Blackout will appear in the movie or who could play him in the Ghost Rider movie.
