Is WWE’s Cody Rhodes Joining The MCU? Marvel Photo Fuels Role Speculation

WWE’s Cody Rhodes just dropped a photo that has fans completely losing their minds. The three-time WWE Champion’s surprise visit to the Marvel Studios office sparked widespread speculation about a potential role in the MCU.

Cody Rhodes shares new photo visiting Marvel Studios

WWE champion Cody Rhodes shared a photo from the Marvel Studios office on his Instagram story on Wednesday. The three-time Undisputed WWE Champion posted the image from the studio’s Burbank, California location. Rhodes did not share any additional details about the purpose of his visit.

The photo’s timing remains unclear, as it is unknown whether the image is recent or old. Rhodes currently has a busy schedule outside the wrestling ring. He recently took time off from WWE television to film the upcoming Paramount movie Street Fighter, where he plays Guile.

Rhodes has deep ties to the comic book world that make a Marvel project fitting. He previously played Derek Sampson across seven episodes of Arrow on The CW. His wrestling character Stardust also drew heavily from comic book supervillain aesthetics during his WWE run.

The wrestler has openly expressed his love for Marvel Comics throughout his career. Rhodes has named Omega Red and Cyclops as his favorite fictional characters. He previously pursued the role of Black Bolt for Marvel’s Inhumans series back in 2016 (via Bleeding Cool).

His physique and acting experience could suit several MCU roles. Fans online quickly suggested characters like Captain America as a potential fit. Rhodes could also portray figures like Hyperion or an X-Men character such as Wolverine or Angel.

However, other WWE stars have faced setbacks with Marvel casting in the past. Becky Lynch filmed a post-credits scene for Eternals in 2021 that was ultimately cut. Seth Rollins also had his character removed from Captain America: Brave New World before its 2025 release.
