Iman Vellani has shared her thoughts on major team-ups in the MCU. The Canadian actress is best known for playing Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels.
During a recent appearance on the Revenge Of! podcast, Vellani shared her thoughts on big team-ups in MCU storylines. In The Marvels, her character was part of the central trio alongside Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau. The Canadian actress said she would like future projects to feature the character in fewer alliances.
“I think like if we’re talking about Ms. Marvel, like I think that’s a character who really succeeds in her own world,” Vellani said and continued, “Like they’ve been trying to bring her into the X-Men for so long in the comics now. And I think that’s fun, and I love seeing her interact with any other superhero, but I just love her own world.”
Vellani shared her hope for a story that explores Ms. Marvel on a more individual level rather than as part of a team. “I love her own cast of characters and like the personality and the way Kamala sees the world,” the Canadian shared, adding, “I want that just amplified through the filmmaking, so yeah, I would maybe do less team-ups.”
What other MCU projects has Iman Vellani been in besides The Marvels?
Vellani made her MCU debut as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, in Disney+’s 2022 series Ms. Marvel. The actress went on to reprise the role in the 2023 film The Marvels. The movie served as a sequel to Captain Marvel (2019). Vellani returned to voice Ms. Marvel in the 2025 adult animated series Marvel Zombies.
In addition to MCU projects, Vellani recently appeared in the 2026 coming-of-age drama Mouse. The actress will also reportedly star in Shiver, an upcoming romantic fantasy based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Maggie Stiefvater.
