Taro’s quiet life as a family man is about to get even more complicated in Sakamoto Days Season 2. A brand-new trailer reveals three new assassins who will force the retired hitman to confront his past once again. The anime returns to Netflix in January 2027.
Sakamoto Days Season 2 gets new trailer showing killer assassins
Sakamoto Days Season 2 trailer introduces Etsuko Satoda, Sakamoto’s former teacher. Misa Watanabe voices the character, who displays a quiet authority that hints at great experience in the assassin world. Her connection to Sakamoto suggests unfinished business between student and mentor.
Amane Yotsumura also appears in the sneak peek. Kikunosuke Toya voices this conflicted student who struggles with divided loyalties. The third reveal is Satoru Yotsumura, played by Shinshu Fujii. This elusive character shares a surname with Amane and carries ties to Sakamoto’s past that the trailer only hints at.
Moreover, the action sequences stand out immediately. Sakamoto and Shin move through enemies with a brutal efficiency that echoes John Wick-style combat. Hand-to-hand exchanges flow into weapon work without losing momentum. Yet the trailer balances this violence with glimpses of Sakamoto’s domestic life, reminding viewers what he fights to protect.
Sakamoto Days Season 2 follows Sakamoto and Shin as they infiltrate the JCC, Japan’s assassin training institution. Their mission centers on gathering intelligence about X, also known as Slur. This shadowy figure has been targeting assassins across Japan and pulling strings from the darkness.
Meanwhile, ORDER members Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi head to Kyoto for a separate assignment. An unexpected attacker ambushes them, throwing their operation into chaos. As these storylines converge, the season exposes the shared history linking Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion, and Slur. The conspiracy runs deeper than anyone anticipated.
Daisuke Nakajima takes over directing duties from Masaki Watanabe at TMS Entertainment. Nakajima previously helmed The Fable, another action-heavy adaptation. Taku Kishimoto returns for series composition while Yo Moriyama handles character designs. Yuki Hayashi continues composing the score.
The original manga by Yuto Suzuki runs in Weekly Shōnen Jump and has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. VIZ Media publishes the English version. The first anime season aired from January to September 2025 with 22 episodes across two cours. Both parts stream on Netflix now.
