DC Studios just dropped the first look at Lanterns‘ secret weapon, and it’s not a ring. The upcoming HBO series will launch alongside an official companion podcast hosted by Juju Green, featuring exclusive interviews with the show’s creators and cast.

DC Studios’ Lanterns TV show will arrive with an official companion podcast hosted by Juju Green.

ScreenRant exclusively shared the first trailer for The Lanterns Official Podcast on August 12. The weekly show will feature interviews with the series’ co-creators, writers, directors, and cast members. New episodes will go live after each installment airs on HBO. Fans can watch the podcast on HBO Max, YouTube, and other podcast platforms.

Green revealed that DC Studios approached him directly for the hosting role. He expressed surprise at the opportunity, noting his deep passion for DC Comics. “I am a big DC fan, but I feel like a lot of people don’t know that as much, because usually, I came up on TikTok talking about Marvel things and [general] comic book things,” Green said.

He also praised the collaborative nature of the production with the DC and HBO teams. “They didn’t make me feel like I was coming in to take care of their precious baby. It is their precious baby, but they also gave me some ownership on where to take the conversation,” he added.

The podcast continues a trend DC Studios started with the Peacemaker Season 2 companion podcast. That show featured James Gunn, Steve Agee, and Jennifer Holland as hosts. Green shared his excitement about speaking with co-creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King together. He called the trio “titans in their respective fields.”

Green also singled out star Aaron Pierre as a standout guest. “Watching him be John Stewart gave me the same feeling I got when I was watching Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine,” Green stated.

Green specifically highlighted Episode 3 as a potential standout for the season. Lanterns premieres on Sunday, August 16, on HBO.
