Scary Movie 6 nearly had a special cameo from a popular horror director, but he turned down the offer. The sixth main installment in the two-decade-old horror comedy parody franchise opened in theaters on Friday.
Who turned down a role in Scary Movie 6?
It will feel strange now, but Scary Movie 6 nearly included a role for acclaimed horror filmmaker Jordan Peele. However, he chose to skip this offer.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Scary Movie 6’s leading star Marlon Wayans revealed that he had informed Peele that the movie would spoof his 2017 iconic horror hit Get Out, and “he was like ‘Oh, cool.’” Wayans then asked him if he would be interested in playing a role in Scary Movie 6. “I was like, ‘You want to be in it?’ He said, ‘Nah.’ I was like, ‘Alright, not that cool,’” Wayans laughed.
While Peele ultimately did not appear in the film, it does feature the Get Out spoof. In one of its recent trailers, the movie took a dig at the famous Sunken Place scene from the 2017 horror classic. There are other recent horror movies, too, that Scary Movie 6 has spoofed, including Weapons, Sinners, M3GAN, Scream, and more.

Interestingly, horror is not the only genre the latest entry has parodied. In April, the makers did reshoots to spoof the hit Michael Jackson biopic starring Jaafar Jackson. Reflecting on this unique approach, Scary Movie 6 director Michael Tiddes said, “I believe that we’re the first movie to parody films while the films were coming out, like we were doing it live.”
While the sixth movie is out now, Marlon Wayans has already teased the seventh film. In a recent media interaction, the actor teased Scary Movie 7 while mentioning which horror films it will spoof. He said, “wait for Scary Movie 7 and we will come back, and we’re going to get us some Backrooms and we’re going to get us some Obsession.”
Scary Movie 6 also features other returning cast members, including Shawn Wayans, Jon Abrahams, and Dave Sheridan, among others.
