Length of Lobo’s Role in Supergirl Reported & Fans Won’t Be Pleased

A new, disappointing update about the scope of Lobo‘s role in Supergirl has surfaced. It suggests that the fan-favorite character may not get a lot of screentime in the movie.

Lobo said to be in just 15% of Supergirl, plot revealed

Fans hoping that Lobo will play a big role in Supergirl will need to temper their expectations. A new report suggests that Jason Momoa’s alien bounty hunter will only be in just 15% of the movie, with his appearance described as “high-impact.”

This comes from notable entertainment journalist Brandon Davis, who visited the upcoming film’s set in London and interacted with the costume designers, prop masters, producers, and other crew members.

Moreover, he said that storywise, Lobo appeared because he and Supergirl (Milly Alcock) were chasing a common enemy. Notably, Momoa confirmed the character’s brief role in an interview with The National. He said, “I’m just in it for a little bit. I’m just there to be a little sprinkle, a dash of Lobo – to help the story.”

Davis also offered insights into Lobo’s look in the film. He said that the costume designers found his costume to be the hardest to create. The reporter added that a lot of care went into designing the look and that the team took inspiration from biker designs. He further stated, “They found a way to emulate like a 1918 biker jacket for him.”

He also revealed that Momoa, famously passionate about the character, had input on Lobo’s design. Highlighting the character’s Hot Toy, he said that although the costume department wanted him to have open-finger gloves, the actor successfully pushed for him to have claws.

Davis continued, “In fact, they said Jason Momoa was very involved in the design of Lobo character. And when they showed him the chain that Lobo was going to have around his neck, he actually said he’s got a bigger chain on his wallet. He wanted that chain to be bulkier.”

He concluded that the costume designers not only made it bulkier but also incorporated a grenade as the chain’s amulet. Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26.
