Stranger Things Fans React To Surprise Season 5 Production Error

Stranger Things fans are known for dissecting every frame for clues about the Upside Down, but their latest discoveries aren’t about lore; rather, they’re about production errors. As Season 5 Volume 1 streams, eagle-eyed viewers are calling out surprising editing and continuity mistakes.

As Stranger Things Season 5 continues to roll out, viewers are keeping a closer eye on details than ever before. A now-viral TikTok clip from episode two revealed a surprising and hilarious editing oversight that sent fans into a frenzy online (via E! News).

The moment in question happens during a tense nighttime scene featuring Will (Noah Schnapp) and Robin (Maya Hawke), who search for the spot where Will last experienced a vision from Vecna.

As they walk through a dark neighborhood park with flashlights, viewers notice two brightly colored X marks one orange, one blue, on the ground ahead of them. The tape, likely used to mark the actors’ positions, somehow made it into the final cut.

The TikTok user who posted the clip on December 4 captioned it, “Oh no not the orange and blue electrical tape scene markers,” adding a crying emoji. Another commenter said, “omg whole season canceled- I’m crying and throwing up.” However, many fans found the mistake oddly charming.

“I actually like catching little details like this to remind myself it’s a show,” one user wrote, while another joked, “I just know someone out there is making an entire theory about those pieces of spike tape.” One viewer noted, “it’s lowkey nice seeing human error in the age of ai.”

The moment isn’t the only production hiccup fans caught this week. Earlier in Season 5, viewers pointed out another continuity mistake involving a flashback of Will and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) building Castle Byers. With Volume 2 releasing on December 25, viewers are already gearing up to examine every scene even more closely.
