Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, and other major Stranger Things cast members recently discussed their reaction to the series finale. The upcoming Season 5 of the iconic Netflix series will also be its last and will wrap up the storyline that originally began in 2016.
Stranger Things stars talk about how they reacted to Season 5 finale script
Sink, Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin recently shared their reactions to the Season 5 finale script during an interview with Collider. When asked what it was like closing a big chapter of their life with the completion of Stranger Things, Sink reflected, “Emotional. I wasn’t expecting to get that worked up. It snuck up on us, I think.”
Meanwhile, Wolfhard recalled that he was “pretty convinced” that he would not “get emotional.” However, things apparently didn’t go according to plan. “Then there was one line. I don’t remember, even, what it was,” the 22-year-old actor said. “I started saying my line, and I started kind of choking up a bit.”
Wolfhard also revealed that Matarazzo broke out in tears. “And then he went like this, he, like, grabbed my shoulder, and then I saw him, and he was tearing up,” the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star said. “Then I looked around the room, and it was like dominoes. Except Caleb was still trying to keep composed at that point. But then later, when we were actually shooting, I feel like emotions hit for everyone. This prompted Sink to note that she remembered what happened. Notably, the young actors have been working together and have portrayed their respective characters for close to a decade.
The Duffer Brothers created Stranger Things for Netflix. Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 premieres on November 26, 2025, followed by Volume 2 on December 25, 2025, and the finale on December 31, 2025.
