Beau DeMayo, who served as the original creator of X-Men ’97, publicly congratulated Marvel Studios following the debut of the trailer for the show’s second season.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), DeMayo wrote that he had “just” seen the new footage and extended his support to the team. He wrote, “Just saw the Season 2 trailer for #xmen97! Major congrats to Brad and the whole team. Also a special congrats to @xmentas for their new role as executive producers. Long overdue!”
DeMayo also encouraged fans to support the production team through the final months of development. He added, “Send the team good vibes because these next final months to lock are always the craziest! @MarvelStudios. And remember, peeps, the X-men are bigger than any one person and the roster is always meant to change!”
The message comes after a chaotic year for the writer, who was dismissed from Marvel Studios in early 2024. According to a statement from Marvel, his termination followed an internal investigation, after which the studio “severed ties with him immediately.”
While no official details were released, Deadline reported that the inquiry involved allegations of sexual misconduct and a breach of his separation agreement. The dispute ultimately led to DeMayo’s name being removed from credits.
Marvel has since appointed What If…? writer Matthew Chauncey to take over as showrunner for Season 3. The renewal was officially confirmed during this year’s New York Comic Con, The studio also announced that X-Men ’97 Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in summer 2026.
