Even though Marvel Zombies has yet to premiere on Disney+, speculations about a potential Season 2 have already started to surface on the internet. Based on a Marvel comic book series of the same name, Marvel Zombies is an animated mini-series that sees many of the MCU’s most famous heroes become ravenous undead monsters. With fans already excited for the premiere of the upcoming TV-MA show, a veteran Marvel Studios executive has revealed what it would take for the studio to greenlight a second season of the series.
Brad Winderbaum reveals how Marvel Zombies Season 2 could happen
In a recent discussion with ComicBook.com, the Head of Streaming at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that the “blueprint for a potential second season” of Marvel Zombies has already been conceptualized. However, whether the follow-up season gets greenlit or not will depend on the performance of the debut season.
“Please, like, people have got to subscribe to Disney+ and watch this show. If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. We’re ready,” said Winderbaum about the possibility of Marvel Zombies Season 2.
The forthcoming four-episode miniseries is essentially an extension of What If…? Season 1 Episode 5, which saw a zombie apocalypse break out in the MCU. In an earlier interview, Winderbaum described the episode as a prologue for Marvel Zombies, stating, “It is very much like the part 1 prologue for this giant, epic event that is coming out next year.”
Created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells, Marvel Zombies will feature the animated versions of several iconic MCU characters, including Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thanos, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, and more. Meanwhile, voice cast members who will be reprising their live-action roles from the movies include Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, David Harbour, Simu Liu, and Hailee Steinfeld, among others.
Set to premiere on September 24, 2025, Marvel Zombies will release all four of its episodes in one go on Disney+.
