Fans of the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice video game have a lot to be excited about, as the anime adaptation of the FromSoftware game has now received an official release date window. A recently held gaming event not only confirmed the title and premiere schedule of the Sekiro anime but also shared some major details about the personnel involved in the upcoming series.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime to have a 2026 release date on Crunchyroll
At the Opening Night Live event of Gamescom 2025, it was revealed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which came out on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in March 2019, will be adapted into an animated series. Titled Sekiro: No Defeat, the anime has also received a 2026 premiere window, with a precise release date set to follow in the coming days. (via Crunchyroll)
Kenichi Kutsuna will reportedly serve as the director for the much-awaited anime, with studio Qzil.la serving as the production company for the project. Meanwhile, Shunsuke Fukui will serve as the series’ Deputy Director, with Kaito Moki and Takashi Mukoda serving as the Chief Animation Director and Action Animation Director, respectively. Additionally, Takuya Satou will pen the script for the Sekiro anime, with Shuta Hasunuma composing the score and Takahiro Kishida handling the character designs.
Talking about the Sekiro anime at the aforementioned event, Kutsuna noted, “We are taking on the monumental task of animating the breathtakingly beautiful Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In doing so, we are pouring every ounce of our artistic vision and passion for beauty into its production. The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time. The three principal voice actors from the 2019 game will be reprising their roles for the upcoming series, with Daisuke Namikawa coming back as Wolf, Miyuki Satou returning as Kuro/The Divine Heir, and Kenjiro Tsuda portraying Genichiro Ashina once again. However, the precise release date and extended cast of the Sekiro anime remain unknown at the time of writing.
