Generally, Harley Quinn is portrayed as equal parts brilliant and insane. For all her madness in a fight, she did still earn a medical degree. This has led to her showing some surprising insight (if not logic) around her superhero and supervillain colleagues. This was recently exemplified during a mission with the Birds of Prey, in which the Clown Queen of Crimefighting revealed how she had weaponized her poop.
Written by Eisner Award winner Kelly Thompson, with art by Sami Basri, Birds of Prey #24 pit the team against a new supervillain group dubbed the Shadow Army. Led by the shadowy thief Inque, the villains had taken over the New Gods‘ Big Barda and turned her against her allies. This led to an all-out super-brawl, as the two teams fought in the Shadow Army’s secret base.
It spoils little to reveal that the heroes ultimately win the day and send the villains fleeing. Indeed, they celebrate with dinner at a noodle restaurant after Black Canary orders the team to “tear this place apart.” However, Harley Quinn goes the extra mile, in a way that involves her crossing the line in a most delightful and devious way.
How does Harley Quinn use her own poop?
As the team is eating, Harley Quinn reveals that she left her poop in every bed in the Shadow Army’s headquarters. It is unclear if she had been saving her poop for this purpose or if she split a single deposit. In either case, the rest of the Birds of Prey are disgusted. However, there is some logic (by Harley’s standards at least) behind why she did this.
Harley Quinn reasons that real estate for secret supervillain bases is limited. She cites her own experiences repeatedly moving around Gotham City. As such, the Shadow Army is not likely to be able to regroup somewhere else.
Given that, they will inevitably return to their base and discover the mess in their beds. From now on, Harley explains, they’ll be unable to look at their beds without thinking about that one awful moment. Beyond expressing her disrespect for the Shadow Army, Harley also came up with a perfect way to torment them.
