Marvel Rumor: Sabrina Carpenter Eyed for This X-Men Character in MCU

A new rumor suggests that pop star Sabrina Carpenter may join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Known for her music career and roles in film and theater, Carpenter is reportedly being considered for a fan-favorite mutant character. The casting would mark her first appearance in a superhero franchise as Marvel prepares for its upcoming X-Men reboot.

Sabrina Carpenter could be cast as X-Men’s Dazzler in MCU

According to a post by industry scooper @MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter), “Sabrina Carpenter is now being eyed to play Dazzler in the MCU.”

Carpenter reportedly met with Marvel Studios to discuss the role of Alison Blaire, also known as Dazzler. Marvel has not confirmed any casting decisions. However, rumors suggest she may play the mutant pop star who converts sound into light and energy.

Marvel has not officially begun casting for the X-Men reboot. Still, several actors have reportedly caught the studio’s attention. Harris Dickinson, Margaret Qualley, and Julia Butters were previously linked to Cyclops, Rogue, and Kitty Pryde. Other rumored names include David Jonsson and Trinity Bliss for Jubilee, Hunter Schafer for Mystique, Ayo Edebiri for Storm, and Javier Bardem for Mr. Sinister.

Carpenter started her career as an actress at a young age. She appeared in Adventures in Babysitting (2016), The Hate U Give (2018), The Short History of the Long Road (2019), Clouds (2020), Emergency (2022), and Netflix’s Tall Girl films. She also played Cady Heron in the Mean Girls Broadway musical in 2020.

In a 2022 interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Carpenter said, “Dream acting role: I’ve always wanted to do an action film.” She added, “I remember watching Kick-A– for the first time and I was like ‘That looks like so much fun,’ so I would love to do something in that world.”

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is reportedly in talks to direct the X-Men reboot; Michael Lesslie reportedly wrote the script. Marvel has not yet announced a release date for the film.
