A new rumor suggests that a Young Avengers-style team-up may be teased ahead of their official live-action debut. The report highlights Kamala Khan, Riri Williams, and Kate Bishop as central characters surviving together in Marvel Zombies. This setup hints at how a future team-up might look within the MCU’s expanding multiverse storyline.
Marvel Zombies could possibly tease Young Avengers before live action series
According to a scoop by @MyTimeToShineHello, the series features Kamala Khan, Riri Williams, and Kate Bishop as survivors. The scoop states, “Kamala’s best friends in Marvel’s Zombies are Riri Williams and Kate Bishop, they hide in a very secured mansion. They only leave to find food.” Iman Vellani, Dominique Thorne, and Hailee Steinfeld are confirmed to voice these characters.
The four-episode animated series is a spin-off of What If…? Season 1, where a zombified Thanos was last seen holding the Infinity Gauntlet in Wakanda. This new show shifts focus to Phase 4 heroes.
Hudson Thames returns as Spider-Man, alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Awkwafina as Katy, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Todd Williams in a mystery role.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, confirmed in February that Thames continues voicing Spider-Man in Marvel Zombies, What If…?, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
The show is directed by Bryan Andrews, with a teleplay by Zeb Wells. Executive producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Zeb Wells, and =Andrews. Danielle Costa and Carrie Wassenaar serve as producers.
A returning character includes Baron Zemo, last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While Daniel Brühl’s involvement remains unconfirmed, the scoop notes his character will appear. In comics, Zemo forms the Thunderbolts when the Avengers go missing, though the live-action Thunderbolts film did not follow this path.
The official synopsis describes Marvel Zombies simply as a Halloween 2025 release from Marvel Animation. The series is expected to build upon the unresolved events of the What If…? zombie storyline.
