Fans of Luke Cage seem to believe that Mike Colter, who portrayed the character in several Marvel shows on Netflix, will return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. These speculations apparently began circulating after Colter shared photos and artworks of the character on his Instagram Story.
Mike Colter posts Luke Cage story, fans think he’s in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Actor Mike Colter recently took to his Instagram Story and shared a photo of Luke Cage from the eponymous Netflix show. This prompted fans to wonder whether Colter is returning as Luke Cage in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH shared a screenshot of the story about the photo on X (formerly Twitter), adding the eyes emoji in the caption. One user, @te_Neil_et, speculated in the comment section that “The Defenders are coming back.” Another user, @TrueTactive, had a more grounded response. “He was at a convention with Charlie for the characters not to say he won’t be back but yea that’s what this was,” they posted.
Meanwhile, user @Bumblebot_hater simply shared a “He’s back” gif to denote how happy they were that Cage was back.
Rumors about the potential return of various members of The Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again have been going around for a while. In May, it was announced that Krysten Ritter, who played Jessica Jones, had joined the cast of Season 2. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the event where this announcement was made, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, reflected on whether Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist would return.
“It’s about not rushing and telling the best story,” Winderbaum said. “Yes, it’s exciting to think about characters interacting, but it’s about the reasons why. At times we’ve done that very well, at times we’ve rushed. The story has to lead the path,” he added.
Notably, production for the second season is currently underway in New York. Both Colter and Jones were purportedly in the city at least until a week ago. This also led fans to hypothesize that they were to film scenes for Born Again.
