Co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn has come out to share a major update on the release date schedule of Peacemaker Season 2. Set to premiere later this year, the second installment in the Peacemaker franchise will hit the small screens more than three years after the release of its predecessor. However, it will not mimic Season 1’s premiere pattern, as Gunn confirmed in a recent interaction.
Peacemaker Season 2 won’t follow Season 1’s release schedule
The Guardians of the Galaxy director has always been responsive to fan queries and actively clarifies doubts via his social media handles.
In accordance, James Gunn recently took to Threads to answer a question regarding the release schedule of Peacemaker Season 2. He also confirmed that the sophomore iteration will premiere with just one episode.
This comes in sharp contrast to how the debut chapter of the John Cena-led series made its way onto HBO Max, airing its first three episodes in one go. As such, the opening season could only enjoy a five-week run, with each of its subsequent episodes coming out on a weekly basis. In a similar fashion, DCU’s first outing, Creature Commandos, also made its debut on HBO’s fast-growing streaming service with a two-episode premiere.
Instead, Peacemaker Season 2 will have a more conventional release schedule and will start with just one episode on its premiere date.
So, the release schedule for Peacemaker Season 2 should be the following, unless any changes are announced in the future:
- August 21 – Episode 1
- August 28 – Episode 2
- September 4 – Episode 3
- September 4 – Episode 4
- September 4 – Episode 5
- September 4 – Episode 6
- October 2 – Episode 7
- October 9 – Episode 8
Aside from John Cena, who will reprise his titular role in the acclaimed show, Peacemaker Season 2 will also feature Jennifer Holland, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, and Steve Agee, among others. The second installment will come out on HBO Max on August 21, 2025, and will conclude after an eight-week run on October 9, 2025.
