While the recent cast reveal of Avengers: Doomsday has left the internet in a frenzy, Netflix cleverly leveraged the announcement to promote the latest episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.
Marvel Studios took to social media on Wednesday to declare the roster of the much-awaited Avengers 5, disclosing a hoard of actors by sharing photos of chairs with their names etched on them. In accordance, Netflix published a similar post of its own to endorse Everybody’s Live’s third episode, all the while confirming the cast of the said chapter.
Netflix uses Avengers: Doomsday’s cast trick to hype up Everybody’s Live
The streaming giants picked a ploy from Marvel’s playbook when they shared the stacked lineup of the latest episode of John Mulaney’s popular talk show on X (formerly Twitter). Netflix shared snapshots of eight chairs with the names of the episode’s cast, mimicking the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement.
The chapter featured several heavyweights of the comedy world, aside from Mulaney and his co-host Richard Kind. In addition to the pair, the showcased chairs also mentioned the likes of Saymo, Pete Davidson, Luenell, Henry Winkler, “licensed funeral director” Raymundo Perez-Plascencia, as well as musical guest Mannequin Pussy. Netflix also used the same caption as the one seen in Avengers: Doomsday’s post, writing, “Take a seat. #EverybodysLive @ 10pm et / 7pm pt.”
Notably, Marvel Studios divulged as many as 27 actors who will star in 2026’s Avengers 5 over the course of five hours in their X livestream, including franchise mainstays like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), and Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), among others.
The announcement also confirmed the imminent appearance of the Fantastic Four squad, namely Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, alongside legacy X-Men characters, including Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, James Marsden’s Cyclops, and Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto, among others.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently on schedule to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
