Netflix Announces Shadow and Bone Cast

Earlier this year, Netflix announced a new miniseries based on Leigh Bardugo’s fantasy novels Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows. Via Deadline, Netflix has released the casting details for this upcoming project.

Genre fans will recognize Ben Barnes from his work on Westworld and The Punisher. He will portray General Kirigan, the commander of a group of elite soldiers empowered with magic. Jessie Mei Li, who recently starred in Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho, will play lina Starkov, an orphaned soldier.

Doctor Who actress Amita Suman and Pennyworth alum Freddy Carter are also in the cast. They will play fellow gang members Archie Renaux and Kit Young. Additionally, Sujaya Dasgupta, Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head and Simon Sears will also join the cast in unspecified roles.

“I was so wary going into this process because these characters have lived in my head for so long,” said Bardugo. “Turns out I had nothing to fear. Watching these actors begin to inhabit these roles has been pure magic.”

The story revolves around Ilina Starkov as she discovers a magic that could help heal her home country. However, sinister forces want to stop her by any means necessary.

Shadow and Bone doesn’t have a release date, but it should begin filming soon.
