Kingsman Star Taron Egerton Dismisses Wolverine Rumors
Marvel fans are no closer to having a new Wolverine than they were after 2017’s Logan. Fan speculation had already pegged Kingsman star Taron Egerton as the one who could step into Weapon X’s shoes, but speaking with Variety, Egerton shot down the rumors, noting however that he would like to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I love Marvel and I love the movies, and I’d love the excuse to get in shape,” Egerton said. “I’d love to be apart of it. Whether realistic or not, I don’t know, but I’d love to be apart of one.”
When asked if he could grow Wolverine’s trademark sideburns, Egerton joked, “Not as well as Hugh [Jackman].”

Previously, the role of Wolverine was masterfully interpreted for nine movies over 17 years by Australian actor Hugh Jackman, who hung his Adamantium claws after Logan. Wolverine could make his return to the big screen with Marvel Studios’ reboot of the X-Men franchise, though when that film will arrive in the MCU is a mystery.
