One year ago on The Flash, Nora outed herself as Barry and Iris’ daughter from the future. However, Nora hid a deadly secret from her parents. She had come to the present to know the father she never had. But to get there, Nora had to enlist Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, for help understanding her powers. Under Thawne’s guidance, Nora thought she had everything she needed to catch Cicada, the one enemy that Barry never captured.
Unfortunately, time is a fickle beast and Nora changed history just by being present. Cicada became an entirely different person, Orlin Dwyer, and he was fanatical about killing metahumans. Orlin was determined to see his plan through, regardless of his own status as a metahuman. Orlin’s madness lives on in Cicada 2, as Grace, Orlin’s adoptive daughter and niece, came back to the present as a new version of Cicada. Now, in the promo for The Flash episode 5.22, Grace is ready to put her uncle’s plans into motion.
But the real battle has always been between Barry and Thawne. Next week, in the fifth season finale, Barry’s going to get a rematch with his mother’s killer. However, the fate of Nora remains to be seen. Will Barry have to sacrifice his life to save his own daughter?
