Tyrese Gibson Shares Photo from Morbius Set
Production of Morbius is in ongoing in the United Kingdom, and actor Tyrese Gibson took to Instagram to share a behind the scenes picture with director Daniel Espinosa.
“On the set in London, UK standing next to a man who is brilliant beyond… our director, Daniel Espinosa!” Gibson wrote. “Over our first private dinner we both talked about and was singing the praises of a real one Denzel Washington. Daniel Directed Denzel in the film Safe House! And now he’s directing me opposite Jared Leto in this Marvel movie Morbius. I have to apologize. I get nervous ’cause he directed my all time hero. He’s been on my bucket list of directors I’ve always wanted to dance with… and it happened!”

Morbius is Sony’s adaptation of the Marvel anti-hero Morbius the Living Vampire. The film sees Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House) behind the camera with a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Netflix’s Lost In Space), based on the Marvel Comics character created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane who first appeared in 1971’s “Amazing Spider-Man” #101.
Originally Dr. Michael Morbius, the character tried to cure his rare blood disease only to become afflicted with a form of vampirism that gave him superior strength, fangs and a taste for the red stuff. The character then fought Spider-Man several times. Eventually, he earned several of his own books where he had a more heroic arc. He has an ongoing feud with the character Blade the Vampire Hunter in the source material.
Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce the film with Lucas Foster, with Sony executive Palak Patel overseeing for the studio. Moreover, this is one of several Spider-Man spin-off projects in development at Sony, including Silk, Nightwatch, Black Cat, and Silver Sable.
Morbius soars into theaters on July 31, 2020.
