Greg Berlanti Reveals Timeline of Batwoman Pilot

After making her debut in CW’s Arrowverse, Batwoman will dial back the clock for its pilot episode. Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane first appeared in the 2018 crossover event Elseworlds and creator Greg Berlanti revealed at the INTV conference (via Deadline) that the show’s pilot will be an origin story.

Batwoman marks the first gay lead character — male or female — of a live-action superhero series. It centers on Kate Kane (Rose) who soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

I have seen dailies, and they’re very exciting, Berlanti added.

Should the pilot get picked up to series, Batwoman could launch on The CW as soon as Fall 2019. The show also features Dougray Scott as Batwoman’s father Jacob Kane, Elizabeth Anweis as Catherine Hamilton-Kane, and Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore. Additionally, Camrus Johnson plays Luke Fox, son of Lucius Fox; while Nicole Kang will play Mary Hamilton. Rachel Skarsten plays the main antagonist Alice.
