New Deadpool 2 Poster Mocks Fox for Logan

We’re less than two weeks away from the long-awaited release of Deadpool 2, but the marketing department for the film isn’t slowing down one bit, even if it means poking fun at their own studio, 20th Century Fox. In the latest poster, we see all of the new and returning character in comic-book stylized glory, posed in front of what looks like a portal with a raging inferno around it. While it is the perfect poster for an action movie, it of course wouldn’t be a Merc with a Mouth poster without some bizarrely pointed humor, and this one highlights both Deadpool’s love for his swan pool float as well as the most genius tagline the sequel has given us yet:

“From The Studio That Killed Wolverine”

There were certainly a few references to the former Hugh Jackman character in the first Deadpool and it’s all the more fitting to work the beloved X-Men character into the film advertisements. Check out the poster below!

Reynolds is reprising his role as the Merc with a Mouth in Deadpool 2 alongside Zazie Beetz as the luck-manipulating mutant Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable, the time-traveling son of the X-Men’s Cyclops. Jack Kesy (The StrainBaywatch) is playing the film’s central villain, which, while unconfirmed, is rumored to be Irish mutant Black Tom Cassidy. Other additions to the cast include Shioli Kutsuna, Terry Crews as Bedlam, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, with Bill Skarsgård, and Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople).

The film’s “official synopsis” doesn’t offer much about the plot of the film, but reads: After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Other stars returning from the first Deadpool include Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus.

Deadpool 2 will be released May 18.
