Director S.J. Clarkson to Helm First Two Episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders

Marvel Entertainment has announced that director S.J. Clarkson (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Dexter) will direct the first two episodes of the upcoming mini-series event, Marvel’s The Defenders.

“S.J.’s take on the material is outstanding. We loved her work on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and couldn’t think of a more talented and accomplished person to helm the first two episodes of ‘Marvel’s The Defenders,’” said Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb.

The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand. In addition Simone Missick will return as Misty Knight for the series and it has also been hinted that Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will return as well. It was recently announced that Academy Award and Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Sigourney Weaver will also join the cast as the villain for the series.

Marvel’s Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. The eight-episode series will premiere in 2017 along with Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Punisher.
