Guardians of the Galaxy Nabs WGA Best Adapted Screenplay Nomination

The Writers Guild of America announced their nominations for their annual awards ceremony this year and included on the list is none other than Guardians of the Galaxy for Best Adapted Screenplay! Writer/director James Gunn and Nicole Perlman, who wrote the initial draft, are both credited with the script and the nomination.

“Guardians” isn’t the first comic based film to gain a WGA nomination as The Dark Knight landed one in 2008, A History of Violence in 2005, Ghost World in 2001, and American Splendor won the award in 2003, but it is the first of the Marvel Studios films to gain a nomination.

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro. The film brought in over $772 million at the global box office and is still the highest-grossing film of 2014 domestically with a total of $333 million.
