Deadline reports that actor Matt Gerald has been cast in the role of a villain for Marvel's upcoming "Phase Three" film Ant-Man. Gerald can be seen previously in James Cameron's Avatar as well as G.I. Joe: Retaliation; however, his most important role in relation to this casting announcement is his appearance as "White Power Dave" in the Marvel One-Shot "All Hail The King," which starred Ben Kingsley and appeared on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray.
Marvel Studios are a smart bunch, so it seems unlikely they would cast an actor that had previously appeared in one of their works in a different role. The site makes no mention of Gerald reprising his role from the short film, and it would certainly be surprising if he did get to play two different characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check back here for confirmation on Gerald's role in the film soon.
Gerald joins an elite ensemble cast for the film that also includes Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson. Set to begin production shortly in Georgia, Ant-Man will be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block). The film is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
