The Hollywood Reporter says that Thor opened in 1,800 locations at midnight in North America and earned $3.25 million. The movie is now playing domestically in 3,955 theaters and is projected to earn over $60 million this weekend.
The comic book adaptation has already reached $125 million internationally.
