Before The Flash settled on bringing back Michael Keaton’s Batman, an earlier version of the script envisioned a very different multiversal Batman. John Francis Daley revealed that at least one script version might have completely changed Bruce Wayne’s origin story.
According to Daley, there was a script that would have depicted a Wayne who never became Batman. This version, he revealed, would have been very different from the cold, calculating Wayne that most Batman fans are familiar with.
He told The Playlist, “We had a version where Bruce Wayne never became Batman. And so he was just this sort of billionaire party boy who’s aimless and doesn’t know what to do with his life.”

John Francis Daley had a pretty eventful 2023. Along with DCEU‘s The Flash, it was the year another film he penned the script for wowed audiences. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves received a lot of acclaim from fans and also performed decently at the box office.
Daley also wrote the script for A Minecraft Movie, but remained uncredited. His previous work includes films like Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
On the small screen, the filmmaker and actor was credited as an executive producer on Hysteria!.
Daley’s next project will be his Apple TV+ feature, Mayday. It will be available to stream on the service on September 4. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Kenneth Branagh, Maria Bakalova, Marcin Dorociński, and David Morse, among others.
The story of Mayday takes place during the Cold War. Reynolds essays the role of a US Airman who is forced to eject in the Soviet Wilderness. He then meets with an ex-KGB agent who agrees to deliver him to safety outside enemy territory.
