As MCU’s X-Men reboot continues to generate casting rumors. One notable actor has stepped forward to play Nightcrawler. The news comes just a week after Marvel announced its main X-Men cast at Disney’s D23 event.
Anirudh Pisharody recently posted on X expressing his interest in playing Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler, in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot. The actor shared a post by @kcrrcn where the user said, “anirudh would devour as nightcrawler,” along with a shirtless photo of Pisharody and a comic book panel of Nightcrawler to highlight the similarities. Pisharody reposted it, adding, “so so down @MarvelStudios ?.”
Pisharody is best known for playing Des in Never Have I Ever and Ravi Panikkar in 9-1-1. The actor has also appeared in Last Man Standing, Big Sky, Grey’s Anatomy, S.W.A.T., and many more.

Pisharody’s post comes after Marvel Studios announced which actors will play the leads in the upcoming X-Men reboot project. Sadie Sink, who already made her debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, joined director Jake Schreier onstage at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event to unveil the rest of the main cast.
Kit Connor, best known for starring in Netflix romantic drama Heartstopper, is set to play Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. Meanwhile, Girls star Christopher Abbott will play Professor Charles Xavier.
Ready or Not actress Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost, while Obsession’s Inde Navarrette will play Rogue. Broadway starlet Maya Boyd will play Ororo Munroe/Storm. Finally, Adam Driver will play the villainous Mr. Sinister.
Meanwhile, rumors surrounding the rest of the cast continue to fuel speculation among fans. Recent rumors have linked Charles Melton to the role of Beast. Other notable X-Men characters who have yet to be cast include Gambit, Magneto, Angel, and many more.
The untitled X-Men movie arrives in theaters on May 5, 2028.
