Zendaya‘s mother cried over one of the most pivotal scenes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The latest MCU outing, helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, sees Tom Holland reprising his iconic role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Brand New Day is winning over Marvel fans right now, and Zendaya’s mom, Claire, is also one of them. She recently revealed a BTS photo from the movie while sharing her experience of witnessing a crucial scene between her daughter and Holland. The scene is from a moment when Parker is taking MJ back home while she’s clearly having no memories of him.
While sharing the picture from the scene, Zendaya’s mother wrote on her Instagram story, “I got to see them shoot this pivotal scene…I had no idea what was going on, and the scene made me cry!!” according to Comic Basics.
Why Zendaya’s mom became emotional while watching a Spider-Man: Brand New Day scene?
Zendaya’s mother mentioned that she initially had no idea about this particular scene during filming. Interestingly, she also decided not to get any context for it, even when she could, because she wanted to experience it inside theaters.
“They were like, ‘Do you want us to explain what’s going on?’ I said no!! Let me watch it for the first time in a theater … so when I did go see it….wow!!!”, she added.
Additionally, Claire also rated Spider-Man: Brand New Day and called it her favorite so far among Tom Holland’s four Spider-Man installments in the MCU. “I think this was my fave Spiderman of the 4!!”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is continuing to establish new records at the box office since its awaited debut last week. On Thursday, it became the fastest movie ever to cross the barrier of $500 million domestically.
Tom Holland’s movie achieved the milestone in just seven days and surpassed Avengers: Endgame’s record. The 2019 MCU blockbuster reached $500 million in North America on the eighth day of release.
With a global collection of over $1.2 billion, against a reported budget of $225 million, Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing movie of 2026.
