It looks like Avengers: Doomsday will finally pay off the post-credits scene of 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which introduced Charlize Theron‘s Clea to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Released as part of Phase 4 of the MCU, Multiverse of Madness ended with Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular Master of the Mystic Arts being approached by Clea to travel into the Dark Dimension to repair an incursion he triggered. It remains the last time that fans have seen both Doctor Strange and Clea in the shared universe.
Which MCU movie’s post-credits scene is finally getting paid off in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to scooper MAJESTIC_ucm on X, Clea will be one of Doctor Doom’s followers in Avengers: Doomsday, confirming that the “leaked image of a figure in purple clothing and golden mask is real” and will be her attire in the movie.
With Doctor Strange also set to be one of Doom’s followers in Doomsday, it’s clear that something happened between when the two went off to stop an incursion and the start of the Avengers sequel to make them join Doom’s side.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, who fans also last saw in Multiverse of Madness being buried under Mount Wundagore, is also reportedly one of Doom’s followers. The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez previously hinted that “her involvement is slightly unexpected” in Doomsday, likely due to her siding with Doom instead of her former Avengers teammates.
However, given Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch’s history from Multiverse of Madness, it’s entirely possible that Strange will be the one to convince Wanda to join Doom’s team, which also includes a shapeshifter (who takes the form of Peggy Carter) and a Hulk variant.
Plot details remain under wraps for Doomsday, although the movie will see the Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men working together to stop Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay, with the Russo Brothers returning as directors.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
