The latest update for Marvel Studios‘ Spider-Man: Brand New Day hints that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will have his hands full in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.
Brand New Day update suggests Spider-Man will be kept busy in the MCU movie
Marvel fans already know that the fourth MCU-set Spider-Man movie will be packed with new and returning characters, from Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk and Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher to Marvin Jones III’s Tombstone. However, a new report from scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed that fans can expect to see even more new characters in Brand New Day than have previously been shared or leaked.
Richtman revealed over the weekend on Patreon that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature even more villains that haven’t been leaked yet. So far, the likes of Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, and The Hand have been rumored, but not yet confirmed to be part of Brand New Day. It is expected they would have smaller roles in the movie than Tombstone and Michael Mando’s Scorpion.
If Richtman’s latest Brand New Day update is true, it means that the MCU movie is still hiding a few surprise characters, some of whom could be portrayed by newcomers Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman. Sadie Sink’s role also remains undisclosed at this time, although she’s believed to be portraying Jean Grey in the movie, whom the Punisher is trying to protect from Damage Control.
It’s unclear which other villains might appear in Brand New Day, although Kingpin and Mister Negative remain at the top of most fans’ wishlists. Unfortunately, outside of a possible post-credits scene cameo, Kingpin is not expected to factor into the blockbuster sequel, despite currently being the Mayor of New York City, where the Spider-Man movies are based.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will pick up some time after the events of 2021’s No Way Home, which ended with the universe forgetting who Peter Parker was. While plot details are under wraps, the sequel is expected to be more grounded than the multiverse adventure fans witnessed in No Way Home.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
