New Line Cinema’s Evil Dead Burn has received a new update, revealing the upcoming horror movie’s potential huge cameo. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 24, 2026.
What’s the new Evil Dead Burn rumor?
A new rumor from The Beyond Reporter suggested that Evil Dead vet Bruce Campbell will reportedly not reprise iconic role as Ash in Evil Dead Burn. Should this be proven, this would be the first movie of the franchise that Campbell won’t be involved in.
Instead of Campbell, the insider claimed that the next installment’s huge cameo would actually be Alyssa Sutherland’s Ellie from 2023’s Evil Dead Rise. The character was introduced as a single mom of three who became a Deadite after her son discovered the Necronomicon.
Evil Dead Burn is directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. This marks the third standalone installment in the long-running supernatural franchise. The movie stars Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Tandi Wright (Pearl), Souheila Yacoub (Climax), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night). Franchise creator Sam Raimi is serving as a producer along with Robert Tapert.
The Evil Dead franchise began in 1981 with Raimi’s original film. After becoming a cult classic, it was subsequently followed up by two sequels, Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992. After a two-decade hiatus, director Fede Álvarez revived the franchise with a re-imagined film in 2013, which was led by Jane Levy. In 2023, Lee Cronin directed a new standalone movie, Evil Dead Rise, which currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 241 reviews. At the moment, the franchise has a combined gross of over $300 million at the global box office.
