As trailers continue to drop for Avengers: Doomsday, so do the rumors, with another X-Men hero now rumored to appear in the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover event.
Another X-Men hero rumored for Doomsday
So far, seven X-Men characters have been confirmed by Marvel Studios for Avengers: Doomsday. Six of them will be played by actors from the original X-Men film trilogy: Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops. Channing Tatum will also be back as Gambit, reprising his scene-stealing role from 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
However, those seven may soon become eight, as trusted scooper The Beyond Reporter is claiming on X that Psylocke is set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The scooper additionally reported that Psylocke “will not be Asian,” ruling out the Kwannon iteration of the character.
The Beyond Reporter previously shared fan art of Ana de Armas (Knives Out, Ballerina) as Psylocke, although it’s unclear if the scooper was teasing that she had been cast as the beloved X-Men hero. Olivia Munn portrayed Psylocke in the 2016 X-Men prequel, Apocalypse.
Plot details remain heavily under wraps, although fans know that the main antagonist will be Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and that the X-Men will appear alongside the Avengers, New Avengers, and the Fantastic Four. A first look at Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops (in his comic-accurate suit) was revealed in the third Doomsday teaser trailer.
Joe and Anthony Russo are at the helm for Avengers: Doomsday. The upcoming superhero movie marks their fifth feature for the MCU after Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
