Some Avengers: Doomsday stars have already finished up filming for the upcoming movie, and a recent rumor points to potentially why.
What is the latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
According to a new post from insider Daniel Richtman, the reason why so many cast members have seemingly wrapped filming for Doomsday is because Marvel Studios is still working on the film’s script. Richtman notes that, should they need to, they will return for reshoots for the movie.
The report comes just a few days after Alan Cumming (who plays Nightcrawler) mentioned that he had finished up returning to the movie for some extra filming. It’s unclear who else has finished up filming for the movie, or whether or not they’ll need to come back, but it seems like work on Doomsday is yet to finish up for a majority of the cast.
The confirmed cast for Avengers: Doomsday is going to be massive. So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to be in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, and Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool.
More names for the upcoming movie include Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki.
Several X-Men characters are also coming back for the upcoming movie, including Patrick Stewart‘s Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen‘s Magneto, Alan Cumming‘s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn‘s Mystique, James Marsden‘s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum‘s Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives before both of those movies on July 31, 2026.
