A new rumor regarding the planned Wonder Woman DC Universe movie hints at Gal Gadot’s potential involvement in the movie.
Will Gal Gadot return for the Wonder Woman DCU movie?
In a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, co-hosts Jeff Sneider and John Rocha spoke about the movie. Rocha talked about rumors of Gadot returning, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Sneider quickly shut those down.
“No, absolutely not happening,” said Sneider.
The news shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, as Gadot and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins all but confirmed they wouldn’t be coming back last year when James Gunn began planning out the DCU. Still, it does mean that DC Studios will have to find its own Wonder Woman now.
Recently, Gunn confirmed that a Wonder Woman movie was currently in development and that it’s going to be a “separate thing” from the planned Paradise Lost HBO series, which Gunn says is still in the works. Gunn wouldn’t offer up any information about Wonder Woman, but did say that the movie was being written.
“We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now,” said Gunn.
Before the new Wonder Woman movie, the previous DC Extended Universe had its star in the suit of the iconic superhero. Gal Gadot played the character of Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s universe of films, with director Patty Jenkins making two movies starring Gadot. A third film was rumored to still be in the works when James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-CEOs of DC Studios, and the movie never panned out.
It’s currently unclear whether or not the Wonder Woman DCU movie will feature any of the DC Universe’s already established heroes. The Superman movie starring David Corenswet is set to arrive on July 11, 2025, with the next film after that being Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which stars Milly Alcock and releases in June 2026.
A Batman movie was also announced by Gunn at the beginning of his time with DC Studios, although there have been no firm updates on that as of yet.
