A new rumor has offered up an update on what the plans for the MCU Illuminati were heading into the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What are the latest rumors about the MCU Illuminati?
In a new question-and-answer series from The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, a question was asked about a “Multiversal Illuminati” rumor that Perez previously mentioned. According to Perez, the idea for the group was to have various characters from the multiverse come together to stop incursions from happening in the multiverse.
“It would have mirrored, in a way, the lineup of the Marvel Comics Illuminati but would have involved different characters from different universes which, in some way or form, have had experience with/or studied the Multiverse,” said Perez.
The characters Perez listed consisted of Doctor Strange, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Charles Xavier and Beast, and, most surprisingly, Miguel O’Hara from the Spider-Verse films.
Perez noted that he doubts the idea will pan out, but that it is interesting to note that Marvel Studios seems to be planning for even bigger and more grand stories going forward. The Illuminati did briefly appear in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with the other dimension’s group consisting of Mordo, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, Reed Richards, and Charles Xavier.
In the world of Marvel Comics, the Illuminati are a secret society that features many of the brand’s most iconic heroes. The group traditionally features characters like Namor, Iron Man, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Doctor Strange, Charles Xavier, Black Panther, and others.
