Furiosa: Chris Hemsworth Drops New Image of Warlord Dementus

Chris Hemsworth rides through the barren wasteland in a newly released image from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

On Twitter, Hemsworth shared the first look of his teddy bear-strapped character Warlord Dementus sitting atop an oversized chrome bike fitting for the Mad Max series. The actor posted the image with the caption, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

As the villain in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Hemsworth was thrilled about the opportunity to work with legendary director George Miller. “When you do an action film, a lot of the time you’re trying different things, you’re experimenting, and you’re trying to make the sequence as impressive and as big as possible,” Hemsworth said at the CCXP presentation in 2023. “And you have backups and other options, and that can be exhausting. What was refreshing working with George is that every frame was thought out. Every single frame was necessary; it was servicing the whole. It was part of a grander plan and a message, and so there was no waste.”

What is Furiosa about?

Set 15 years before the events of 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role originated by Charlize Theron in a tale that sees the future war captain caught in the middle of a battle between two warring tyrants in the Wasteland. Miller directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Nico Lathouris.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga opens in theaters on May 24.
